(Here’s Teddy during his first trip to the Veterinarian)
We adopted a new Shinese puppy named Teddy. He is about three months old. A Shinese is a Pekingese and Shih Tzu mix. He weighs about four pounds and is extremely fluffy. His fur is very fine and extremely soft. He has a very curious and playful personality and seems to warm right up to people. He insists on chewing on the corner of our kitchen cabinets, despite our discouraging him from this. When left alone, he cries bloody murder, which is heart breaking, but like any puppy he has to learn to be by himself. He’ll be okay in a few days. He has an enclosed area with a fluffy bed, puppy pads, food and water, and a nice red lobster chew toy. So far he’s living in a different room from the other dogs (he is our third), but hopefully that won’t last long.
Chloe is a bit afraid of him. She is very submissive. When she gets afraid she just stands in one spot and shakes with her tiny little tail down. Could she look more pathetic? Not likely. She’ll be fine playing with him soon.
Sanjo however is a bit of a problem. He’s protective and dominating to concerning levels. He growls and barks and snaps at other dogs. In fact I think we’re going to bring in a professional to help us settle our little furry family. We’re mostly concerned about Sanjo’s attitude. Now we know why Pekingese are called the Little Lions!
Interestingly, I didn’t find much at all about the Shinese breed on the web. Google kept trying to tell me I meant “Chinese”, which was actually quite annoying because I got a lot of results with “Chinese” instead of “Shinese”. Arg. Google got that wrong. I ended up adding “-Chinese” to my query to get rid of the false positives in the query. This was really the first time google has really got something like this blatantly wrong for me.
We didn’t know the Pekingese and Shih Tzu mix was called Shinese until I searched around tonight. Below are a couple of links about the breed, which were really the only useful sites I could really find. The rest were just unlinked lists of all the millions of hybrid breeds or links to ads selling the dogs in random newspapers or websites, or lame aggregation sites. There’s not much at all out there about Shinese at all. Nothing at all on Wikipedia.

One thing I’ve noticed about dog pictures on the web is that they all suck. Okay, most suck. Okay, a lot suck. And the dog websites? Um, 1991 called and wants its website back. But you get the idea. Maybe our pictures of Teddy will be the best Shinese pictures on the web. I’ll have to get cracking. These were a bit tough - low light, plus he kept rushing the camera and running around all short and low to the ground and stuff and hyper and stuff. I’d lay on the floor and he’d come over and chew on my nose and glasses. Sigh. Puppies. Have. Sharp. Teeth.

Oh, my. Teddy is one cute little fluffy puppy! He’s adorable. Congratulation, you guys! Can’t wait to meet him someday (well, for that matter, I haven’t met Sanjo or Chloe yet either!)
Congrats on the new addition to your family!
Three dogs? You realize there is a time where you just have to stop, right?
Teddy is adorable! We have recently added a Shinese to our home. His name is Harley and he’s 11 weeks old. Just like you I have had difficulty finding any info on the web. I also had the Chinese problem w/Goggle. Very frustrating! We have feel in love with his little personality. He is so sweet and fun loving. Glad to see there are other happy Shinese owners out there too!!!
