    Microsoft Katrina blog

Here is blog from a couple of MSNBC folks. I found this entry to especially moving as my dog is part of my family and leaving him behind would be unthinkable for me, yet that’s what thousands of people had to do.

Microsoft partnered with American Red Cross to help donation processing, so please donate here.

    Here’s a project I’d like to do someday…

How about building the world’s fastest supercar? Saaaaweeet!!! This car does 0-60 in less than three seconds. Top speed of like 240. Quarter mile in like ten seconds. Wow. Seriously, I’d love to do build one. I’d probably take me like a year, but I’d sure enjoy it. What you do is buy the car in stages and put it together. Supposedly it’s easy done. I mean relatively. It’s a little more elaborate than say buying a pressboard desk from Ikea. They send you everything you need, and then you put a small block chevy engine in it (up to 700 hp!!) and you have a real barn buster.

The only concern I’d have is the day to day driveability. I’m sure it’s awesome when you’re in the mood for performance driving or on the track, but what about when you’re tired driving home from work in traffic? It’s probably quite loud, and it doesn’t have power steering or anti-lock brakes. So it might be a bit of a pain to drive slowly. I could do some stuff like add some sound deadening and modify it somewhat to make my old butt happier day to day, but I’d hate to build it and then not be able to live with it. And of course I’d have to install a CarPC to have all my ripped music and navigation and wireless internet at my fingertips…

Ah, the possibilities are vast and unbounded. I’m weeping like a little girl.

    The Campbell duck killer

    Warning, strong (appropriate) language:

I know this is nothing compared to the real disaster down south, but this has me spitting nails. See there’s this car wash near my house where all these very tame ducks lived and they’re been there for years. They have raised a little duck family that people with kids come visit to feed and play with, and they have just been part of the town, you know, like little duck neighbors.

But not any more. Some psychopathic fuck ran over all of them in his red Acura and then he turned his car around and ran over them again and then he stopped and got out of his car and then he did some more evil things. To tame ducklings. To geriatric senior citizen ducks. I’ve met these ducks a few times. At the car wash. At the Chevron next door. They were fine, neighborly ducks, worthy of bread crumbs and a smile, not a horrible, unprovoked, bloody massacre.

The car wash has surveillance video of him perpetrating his evil evil deed but unfortunately the video is too blurry to figure out who he is. The good news is that quite a few people have donated money as a reward to motivate someone to turn this waste of skin in (up to $19,000 now) - so I’m not the only one outraged by this. I can’t believe someone would do this. Maybe I’m just naive. But it sure brings out the homicidal feelings in me. I think this shithead should be run over by his own car, several times, just so he can see how it feels. Some percentage of me doesn’t mean this literally, but depending on when you catch me, this percentage is as low as his act was evil.

Like I said, it’s nothing compared to what’s happening in New Orleans, they are just ducks and not people, but it was truly an evil act, by a clearly evil person and it really upset me when I heard about it a few weeks ago. Close to home and all that.

I think I could probably find the video online somewhere, but I don’t think I’d want to see it. I’ll leave you with this picture of the car though.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Campbell police at (408) 866-2101. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at (408) 947-STOP.
